D-Day Dice - set at the time of the 1944 D-Day landings in Normandy your unit assaults the various beaches, avoiding machine gun fire and Axis troops, to successfully take control of the bunkers. Roll and manipulate dice to determine your individual success as part of your overall unit's simultaneous advance up the beach. This game is also about resource management (soldiers, specialists, items and courage) and knowing when to move your unit. Resources are kept from turn to turn, so players can plan ahead. Successful advancement up the beach and ultimately, control of the bunker ensures victory.
This game is one of the best dice manipulation games we have played. The progression through the different beaches, preset scenarios and card deck choices ensure an engaging campaign of games, and plenty of replayability. Enjoyable as a solitaire game and more so as a cooperative, team game where communication (observing the fog of war) is crucial to achieving victory. We really appreciate the truly thematic feel and the tension that this game creates, this is further enhanced by the expansions Way To Hell and Inside The Bunker - which also links the game to Airborne In Your Pocket.
