A dangerous future - the year is 2282, a small human and alien non-unified contingent of the Galactic Alliance on a communications repair mission suddenly find themselves victims of the Ak-Nar-Ryn surprise attack. This sets the background for the story where players can choose to adventure as mercenaries, misfits, soldiers, spies, pirates and heroes. With crunchy tables and charts coupled with in-depth and well devised rules. the whole system is underpinned with a d100 mechanic.
What we really like about Battlelords of the 23rd Century, apart from the dark humour, is that it definitely steps away from the classic fantasy based races and provides 14 races, each more befitting to a tactical military sci-fi RPG. We also like the level of character depth that is explored during the creation phase with dice rolls and a percentile chart determining how they grew up. With close to 100 Skills and highly customisable armour, the level of PC detail you can explore is vast. The System was nominated in the Best Art category at the IGDN Groundbreaker Awards 2020 and is beautifully illustrated in great detail and stunning colours.
